Fire Loss Specialist (FLS)

Through RIA’s Fire Loss Specialist course, you will study a wide range of subjects, including emergency response management, scoping and estimating, pre-structural restoration, odor removal and abatement, the impact of heat and smoke on the built environment, and fire restoration in unique environments. Additionally, you will discuss contract management, ethics, project management, report writing, and consulting as they relate to fire restoration.

Content Loss Specialist (CLS)

Preserving and restoring valuable contents is a crucial part of the clean-up process. By completing RIA’s Contents Loss Specialist course, you will learn about the perils that can impact valuable contents, discover critical business practices to mitigate loss effectively, master pack-out/pack-back best practices, and unlock cleaning methods that restore cherished items.

Water Loss Specialist (WLS)

RIA’s Water Loss Specialist course arms you with the expertise to mitigate and restore properties affected by water-related losses. This course provides a comprehensive approach to water loss, including standards, safety, psychrometry and drying techniques, antimicrobial chemicals, drying equipment and instruments, microbial and IAQ issues, and drying of building materials and contents.

Environmental Risk Specialist (ERS)

Environmental hazards pose unique challenges in the restoration industry. Through RIA’s ERS course, you’ll master the skills necessary to assess environmental risks including mold, asbestos, chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, explosives, and other risks associated with disaster sites. This course discusses industry guidelines, best practices, and regulatory frameworks related to environmental risk assessment and management. In addition, you will gain a fundamental understanding of how to perform a risk assessment to mitigate risk associated with environmental hazards impacting restoration projects.

Certified Restorer (CR) 

The Certified Restorer course focuses on key principles of leadership, management, and ethical conduct for restoration professionals. Building upon the technical knowledge gained in RIA’s designations (WLS, FLS, CLS, and ERS), you will apply and effectively communicate that knowledge in real-world scenarios, including report writing and file review. The course will also enhance your understanding of the insurance claims process, large loss management, and will introduce concepts related to providing expert witness testimony, consulting, and serving as a third-party peer reviewer.
