Q: Can you please share your “ask afraid” story?
JT says: Happily. A client recently said, “I should’ve called you years ago.” Out of curiosity, I asked why he hadn’t? He looked at his wife, then at me, he paused, “I was afraid.” He continued, “…of what you’d find. Or what our retirement would look like.” Then added with emphasis, “This is my life.”
She then stated, “There were many sleepless nights. Your answers and a plan were soothing to our souls.”
He continued, “I’ve made a career of solving problems- building my team, difficult clients, getting paid, growth challenges, etc. I just had no idea how to proceed when we talked about selling. Really glad we crossed paths.”
Looking back 3-4 years, what would you tell yourself? “It seems so simple now. Though afraid, having a clear path to retirement was more important than my feelings ever were. I’d tell myself to simply ‘ask afraid’ and get answers!”
