Restoring the Restorer

A lot of you aren’t in a good place.

Your business might be struggling. Maybe it’s your health. Maybe it’s your family. Your team. Your finances. You’re grinding every day, but all you can think about are the problems piling up around you. And the more you fixate on those problems, the heavier they get.

Let me help you flip that.

Be thankful. You woke up today. You can breathe. You can walk. You still have the ability to build a business. You still have the power to help others – that alone is worth it! A lot of us struggle with expectations. Too often, we expect more from everyone else, than we do from ourselves. We expect more from our team, our boss, our carrier, our association. But rarely do we turn the mirror inward.

Start looking at who YOU are right now, and who YOU actually want to become. How are YOU going to get there? What habits, thoughts, and systems are helping you and which ones are killing you?

You Had a Voice, What Happened to It?

This industry was built by people with one shared mission: to help others. That mission looked differently for everyone, but one thing was the same: we had a voice, especially in the field.

Restorers, the pararescue team of this industry, used to call the shots on what needed to be done, and how to do it. They were on the frontlines, facing the harsh conditions, and carrying the company’s reputation on their shoulders. Their input guided decisions. Their perspective mattered. Now, in too many companies, it’s flipped. The people in the office who’ve never stepped foot in the conditions field workers face, are barking orders from spreadsheets and policies. WHY???

Let me ask you this: How are we leading if the field has no voice?

Cracks in trust don’t start loud. They start small. But under pressure, those cracks widen quickly. The solution isn’t just another protocol, another meeting, or another software rollout. It’s deeper than that.

It starts with dignity.

It starts with truth.

It starts with leading without ego.

If you want to empower a team or an entire movement you start by helping people understand, not just comply. You stop treating people like tools and start seeing them as thinkers, leaders, and protectors. Just like you. If your company culture doesn’t exist or if you let outside forces corrupt it, you will never get consistent results. You will never have the buy-in you want.

CULTURE

People want dignity. People want pride. People want purpose. And so do you.
Make it R.E.A.L. Let me give you something to use. Once you’ve defined YOUR culture, you need to make it real. Not just motivational, I mean something you can use Monday morning.

I call it the R.E.A.L. Method, built from the battlefield:

Repetition = Repeat until your body and mind move as one. Skills aren’t learned at once; they’re built through muscle memory.

Express = If it doesn’t hit the heart, it won’t stick in the head. Use: Real stories. Real scars. Real memory.

Application = If you can’t use it Monday, it’s not real. Training must work in chaos, not just in checklists.

Legacy = You’re not just learning for now, you’re changing the outcome forever. Train like it matters because it does.

This Is Not a Game

Some talk about “breaking the game cycle.” But this isn’t a game.

Games have rules and fairness. This industry? Not always. There are cycles, and you’ll live with the same one’s again and again, unless you learn to break them. You don’t escape by adding more SOPs. That just becomes a punishment system. You escape by educating yourself, and by educating the people you lead. When you understand what you’re doing, why it matters, and what the risks are, YOU will stop repeating the same mistakes. And YOU will start building something that lasts.

It’s not overnight because it’s transformational. So be patient. But be relentless.

What I’ve Learned the Hard Way:

I used to believe in self-sacrifice.

I was wrong. That doesn’t earn respect, it earns contempt.

I thought gratitude was soft.

Now I realize, it fuels purpose.

I believed systems and cheat sheets would save us.

But real leadership isn’t about shortcuts. It’s about learning how to think.

I don’t care if you see yourself as independent. I don’t care what title you wear or what last year’s revenue was. I care that you hear this: That you take back control of yourself, your business, and your team. You were never alone to begin with. And you were not wrong for the path you chose. Like everything else, it was the choice you believed was right at the time.

So, guess what, you still have a choice. You can step away from it and redirect yourself toward the one you know you truly want.

Because it’s time to Restore the Restorer.
