This week, the EPA announced its plans to ban the last form of asbestos used in the United States–chrysotile asbestos. This type of asbestos is commonly used in car parts such as brakes and linings and in the production of chlorine. The EPA’s response comes after decades of concern over the health effects of asbestos, including links to certain forms of cancer.
