The Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC) has opened a second limited public review for the IICRC S520 Standard for Professional Mold Remediation as part of the ANSI 30-day public review period. All comments must be submitted using the online comment form no later than February 25, 2024.
The IICRC S520 Standard describes the procedures to be followed and the precautions to be taken when performing mold remediation in residential, commercial, and institutional buildings, and the systems and personal property contents of those structures. The Standard explains mold remediation techniques, the principles of which may apply to other microbial remediation projects or services. This Standard assumes that determining and correcting the underlying cause of mold contamination is the responsibility of a property owner, landlord, or their agent(s), and not the remediator, although a property owner may contract with a remediator or other professional to perform these services.
