Making Your 2024 List Smaller

We’re nearly three months into our 2024 goals, and if you’re like most restoration business owners– and honestly like most of us on this planet – you haven’t checked off as many goals as you’d like. The truth is, that’s normal. Goals for the new year tend to be big, and that doesn’t always give us a lot of positive momentum toward knocking down what we set out to achieve.

Going into Q2, let’s try a reset. Add smaller goals or break down larger ones into smaller steps.Think 30-day and 60-day goals, things you can accomplish short-term to shrink your 2024 list and give people an ongoing sense of accomplishment.

We normally leave the process of breaking a goal into smaller steps to the people responsible for that task. But everyone isn’t great at that, are they? Make it easy on your people and break down some of your bigger goals so they always have things to check off their list in 30 and 60 days.

Simple? Sure. Obvious? Not always. Important? You bet!

If the urgent is getting in the way of the important, give your people something to check off their goal list this month, and the next, and the next. And watch your 2024 goals happen. Encourage open communication about obstacles and adjust your path forward as needed. When you prioritize flexibility and support in achieving goals, everyone gets on board to move toward the right end result.
