What’s the Best That Can Happen?

Q: At a recent tradeshow an owner asked, What’s the best that can happen?”

JT says: It’s a question we rarely hear.  I replied, “Great question, why do you ask it that way?”

He stated, “I have 3 years to get my business exit ready.  Many focus on the worst that can happen, I’m focusing on the best.  By flipping the question my energy is focused where it needs to be for a greater chance of success.”

Impressed, I summarized 4-5 key steps for the best possible outcome.  Fast forward 60 days, I’ve delivered the first round of answers and he’s-

  • Gained over $300K on the bottom line from a COGS ‘fix’
  • Acquiring vehicles differently moving forward
  • Jumped head-first into a new division he was unsure about

His business will be highly sellable (and more valuable) in 18-24 months.

A perfect approach- he wanted answers, now acting intentionally and proactively toward his best future.

“Things don’t accidently spiral into control. The best outcome requires best decisions.”
